We always love working with the owners of Piccolo Park. Riaz brings fun and creative ideas which is very inspiring, Narisa and Shana have a great sense of what functionality and practicalities are important in their centres along with a clear picture of what aesthetics they like.
When designs began, I straight away took inspiration from their logo and branding – a Pukeko bird – which became a constant theme throughout. We maximised the great high ceilings and designed a bird house fort with landing and railing in beautiful ash timber. The steps up to the house host storage underneath along with a dress up area with a store/puppetry under the house for maximum play opportunities!
In working with their L shaped rooms, we used metal framed houses to section off the room to create intimate play and learning spaces for the children. This centre is mostly custom designed furniture which adds a unique and personal touch to their centre and brand.

We have found the team at Starex to be open to creativity and the wonderous magic that working with children brings with it. They have always taken on board our dreams and made them real and understood how durable and fun furniture for children needs to be. They have also been mindful of how costly it can be to set up a centre and have been willing to work in furnishing our centres in stages to meet the demand of growth as needed. It has been a pleasure working with this awesome team of creativity and we look forward to working with them again.
